The initial session

If you are looking for a counsellor and decide to get in contact, then the first step would be to arrange an initial counselling session; there is an option for you to have this session in person, via the telephone or online. This initial session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for the process and to decide if you would like to continue. There is no pressure to commit to continuing; the most important thing is that you find a counsellor who is right for you, and who you feel able to trust and connect with. If you did choose to continue, we would then arrange a regular time to meet each week and each session would last for up to 1 hour. The counselling process is unique to each individual and can be short or long term, but is reviewed during our work together.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor which means that my practice is influenced by a variety of approaches, including humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, CBT and DBT. Working in this way enables me to tailor my approach to meet your individual needs. My additional training as an online video and telephone counsellor means that I am also able to offer these methods of counselling to help suit your needs. The core aspect of my approach is to work on building a trusting relationship and supportive environment, to help you feel as comfortable as possible in exploring any thoughts or feelings that may arise.
