Emily J Newman MBACP (Accred.) Counselling & Psychotherapy in Bath

About me

Through working in a variety of roles within special needs and mainstream schools for over ten years, I was fortunate enough to be a part of different multi-disciplinary teams, and felt hugely inspired and influenced by the therapists who I worked alongside. After taking some time out to travel and through having my own therapeutic experiences, I decided to embark on the journey to become a counsellor & psychotherapist. I completed a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Roehampton, London, in 2012, and then undertook specialist training through completing a Post Qualification Diploma in Adolescent and School Counselling in 2014, and a Post Qualification Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling in 2020.

I have worked as a counsellor for young people and adults in a range of settings including mental health charities, carers’ organisations, health centres, schools and colleges. I moved from London in 2018 and set up my own private practice to offer psychotherapy and counselling in Bath, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, and the surrounding areas. I feel passionately about my role as a counsellor and have gained invaluable experience through working with different clients with a range of emotional difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, anger, and low self esteem.
