The initial session

If you are looking for a counsellor and decide to get in contact, then the first step would be to arrange an initial counselling session; there is an option for you to have this session in person, via the telephone or online. This initial session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for the process and to decide if you would like to continue. There is no pressure to commit to continuing; the most important thing is that you find a counsellor who is right for you, and who you feel able to trust and connect with. If you did choose to continue, we would then arrange a regular time to meet each week and each session would last for up to 1 hour. The counselling process is unique to each individual and can be short or long term, but is reviewed during our work together.

How I work

I am an integrative counsellor which means that my practice is influenced by a variety of approaches, including humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, CBT and DBT; working in this way enables me to tailor my approach to better meet your individual needs. My additional training as an online video and telephone counsellor means that I am also able to offer these methods of counselling to help suit your needs. The core aspect of my approach is to work on building a trusting relationship and supportive environment, and to help you feel as comfortable as possible in exploring any thoughts or feelings that may arise.
